I have a 1979 35hp Johnson and I can't seem to get the bearing carrier off. I am using 2 bolts and a strip of metal with two holes drilled. The metal strip is placed on the end of the prop shaft. Will this bend the shaft or cause and internal damage?
Right now I am soaking the carrier with oil. I am thinking of the heating up the carrier up with a torch. Should I heat up inside where the carrier contact the housing wall or should I heat up the outside of the lowerunit casing? Any help is appreicated. Thanks.
