Hello,

I have a 73 Mecr 850 and I need help removing the top carburetor. I want to know if I have to do anything with the timing once it is removed. I have never done anything like this before and I am not using a manual. However I noticed the top carb is connected to the distributor and I am wondering if this connection has anything to do with the timing and if I put it back exactly the same way it came out is it going to work.

Thank you.

Usually if one is carefull and observant the carbs can be removed,

even a distributor lower section, (if in the way),

and replaced without having to reset the timing settings.

If leery take lots of digital close ups for reference.

You should be able to get if off without removing or retiming the distributor. It iwll take some wiggling. Remove the upper cowling support and the starter (disconnect the wiring harness first)

Remember the carb throttle yoke inner lever fits between the levers on the dissy. When the throttle is opened, the inner most lever on the dissy assembly must open the carb all the way.
