When I run my 1984 70Hp Johnson in the driveway with the hose muffs hooked on, I get good water from the pee hole but very little water from the exhaust and I get some water coming from the area that I circled in red in the attached photo. I see no sign of oil. Is this a problem? What is the cause, a seal? Is it something that a non-mechanic like me can fix?

Thanks

I hope that it is normal, my 78 model 85hp does that. I believe it is a normal thing somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

welcome to the forum!

had this motor long? This is something any non-mechanic can fix yourself by doing nothing.

Water is directed into that part of the motor housing to cool down the exhaust - it's not even sealed. If you look at the area just above your hydrofoil, those holes there are where most of the cooling water exits.

Get yourself a manual - there's lots of stuff us non-mechanics can do to save, literally, thousands of dollars. I'm not making this up!
