My father has a 32' Hunter 320. It's a decent cruising boat that he uses for entertaining up to 10 guests for leisurely sails in the San Francisco Bay and the nearby delta. He wants to replace or upgrade his current stereo with something that will be iPod capable, because his current MP3 player is not as sophisticated as the Apple products (playlists, etc.).
Can anyone suggest a good, decently priced system that has iPod connectivity and has a remote control panel? I would like to replace his current stereo, which is in the cabin over the electrical panel, have an iPod dock somewhere nearby, and a weather proof or weather resistant remote control somewhere in the cockpit. For remote control functions, I'm mostly interested in being able to adjust the volume and skip backwards or forwards in an existing playlist, and possibly switch modes (iPod/CD/AM/FM...). My guess on budget is somewhere from $200 to $500, not including iPod or installation.
