What would be the top speed for a 1984 Bayliner 16 foot with a volvo penta AQ125 engine with a 270 leg?

Those little 4 bangers aren't speed demons - but propped correctly, new tune up, 2 folks and 1/2 tank of fresh fuel you should expect 35 to 40 mph.

Mine is the Capri 1950 and with two of us, 3/4 tank fuel we got about 30 MPH yesterday. There was a slight chop on the lake too! Running a 14x17 aluminum prop standard model on this outdrive. Yours at 16 ft. should weigh less and get a little more speed.

My 85 1600 Capri is a Cuddy, and with the 85hp Force, it pushes 40mph with me, two young kids and 12 gallons of fuel.

I would think that 4 cyl is making a lot more than 85hp. I would think should be able to do 45. Although the whole drive train is a bit heavier.
