The fuel / oil ratio should be 50:1. OMC switched to 50:1 from 24:1 for the 1964 models. The 6 came out in 1965 and was made through at least 1979. They were the successor to the 5.5 that was introduced as a 1954 model. The lower unit was upgraded for 1956, around the same time that Johnson began selling Evinrude motors and Evinrude began selling Johnsons (i.e. 5.5 (Johnson and 7.5 (Evinrude)) The 6s are very good motors.
