Where do I hook the wire on a 70hp 1982 johnson. Does it hook to the pr. wire on the voltage regulator?

Re: tachometer

1982 3-cylinder with a regulator?

Connect tach SND to gray wire in the wiring harness. If you have the factory control box, there's a 3-pin plug covered by a rubber boot under the throttle tension control, and you can get a plug&play tach harness for it.

Re: tachometer

A tach has 3 wires. grey (sender) Purple(hot) and a ground(black), all 3 need to be hooked to the tach to get it to work.
These wires should be in your harness and as stated there is a small plug at the bottom back of the control box.
Look here on iboats or I have seen adapters on ebay.
