Controls ( throtle response)

1977 merc 700, how can I check to make sure my throtle is responding properly. Just to make sure it's going to full throtle.

Remove the cowl and on the port side of the engine you will see the throttle lever, advance the throttle on the boat to WOT and the lever should rest on the throttle stop screw.
