my friend seems to think that the head gasket is begining to go on my lovely little 7.5 1980, so if hes right , could you lovely people tell me what the symptoms of a troublesome head gasket are? and also is it a difficult job to fix

Compression test of the cylinders will show a greater than 10% difference in psi readings.

One sparkplug will look like it's been steam-cleaned.
