Default 4 blade prop for a pontoon boat? why?

I have been seeing a lot of 4 blade prop questions in the past few days. Most are answered with a "other than a coolnedd factor, you dont need a 4 blade prop! unless its a pontoon boat"

Well, my friend has a pontoon boat, and its a 3 blader. should he have a 4?

boats probably a early 1990 24 footer tri-hull (3 pontoons) , 150 hp oil injected 2007 Evenrude, blah blah blah....

would this be better with a 4?

Hard to tell what's better since we don't know how it performs now. Tri-toons are better high speed units that the traditional twin-toon. Four blade props begin to add drag at higher speeds so perhaps in that application a quality SS three-blade is best. On slower twin-toons or very heavy tri-toons a four-blade may be better. There simply is no positive YES-NO answer to many prop questions.

Yeh there a post here today the guy did his homework got a 4 blade that seemed to meet his pontoon needs.lost 3 mph and gained lots of venting problems.Perhaps a poor design?I have a 3 blade on my 18ft toon with a 88 50 Evinrude.Seems to do well
