will an elec shift OMC outdrive from a 2.5L work for 5.0L

I have an older(1968) 5.0L V-8 OMC outdrive. I'm looking to replace the outdrive and found one off of a 2.5L setup(not sure on year yet). Does anyone know if this is the same strength and will work? Both are electric shifts.

Thank you very much and please hurry with responses because I may need to buy it really soon...

I plan to take my parts to match up before buying.

While you might get it to fit, it won't have the right gear ration and won't work enough to be useable.
