Hello,

I have a 7.5Hp Honda, the old blue and white/yellow model, and need help rebuilding the transom clamp and lower unit. Does anyone have a manual that they could upload the pictures of rebuilding the lower end?

I got rear-ended on my way to the lake last summer and just got replacement parts for it. The parts came off of a 10hp model, but will fit. I just need to know how to take it apart and rebuild it. The motor was a great motor up until I got rear-ended. So now I have to fix it...

Please cn anyone help me?

How do you remove the shift rod from the lower unit? I have to replace it and don't know how to get it off...I did figure out how to remove the top of the shift rod from the extension case.....it unscrews, but it looks like there are pins in the bottom part of the rod....? Does anyone know how to do it?

one of our techs told me you have to remove all the guts (propshaft,gears,etc.) to get the shift shaft out...if you proceed - be very careful as a lot of those parts are no longer available :cool:

I Did remove all the inside parts, and still can't get the shift rod out...nothing gets past the brass bushing that is attached to the lower unit. How do you release the bushing?

the boss just told me that the bushing comes out with the shift shaft so it must be just pressed in...maybe a flat blade screwdriver on each side of the bushing and some gentle prying action ? :cool:

there may be but we're talking about a 25-30 year old motor...we've only been a Honda dealer for 7 years :cool:

I have one of those early honda's , Its been a long time since Ive been in there, but i think the shift rod is in two sections held together by a split pin...I think...

I found my old manual last night, but when I scan it, the file size is way too big to upload.. and I'm not smart enough to know how to reduce it..I can email it to you tho...

I still have had NO luck removing this thing. Does anyone else have any ideas of how to remove it? It has been so long, just curious as to how to replace it. Now I need a new shift rod, cause i bent the hell out of the one I have...please help!!!!
