as Yamaha never made a 2.5L V6 2 stroke for the US market I cant help. close pics of the port and stbd sides of the powerhead will be an aide, paint color is meaningless.

Re: YAM 2.5L V6 225 h/p age required - no serial plate :(

ill try again.
as quite a few years of hoods interchanged as well as powerheads to midsections the only way we can give you a clue is you have to give us some,
good pics of the port side of the carbs, the stbd side of the engine with the hood off and the back side of the engine with the hood off.
that way we can get an idea of which ign system its running and is it prime start or not. as well as does it have 6 pulsers and a movable timer or two pulsers and a crank position sensor.

It is not a model that was sold in the US. No way to even guess the dating of the model without seeing pics of the powerhead. The US version of the 225 was called an Excell with a different cowling in 87.88 amd 89. The newer style cowling was used from 1990 on in the US.

Would you care to tell us what country you are in and the country that the motor came from? Do you have any papers for this motor? As an educated guess, I would say your motor is from 1985.

The powerhead and electrics are the same as the 87-89 Excells sold in the US. The electrics were changed on the 90 model and later versions.
