Using my bayliner with outboard to tow wakeboarders
Can I use the tow strap down rings to hook a harness up to them to tow wakeboarders?
Hey yall, found this thread for my question where people actually suggest using those strap downs but my question is how strong are they? Im not so worried about pulling my friends but Im myself is a rather large person, will they hold? http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?p=1383441

Yes, they are strong enough, that's what they are for. Get a how harness, it is a cable that connects between the transom eyes, and has a roller wheel assembly that rides on the cable. What you are towing connects to the wheel. They also tend to have floats on them so they don't sink to the prop when you stop. And it distributes the load across two eyes, not just one, and keeps the tow line from rubbing the outboard when making turns, etc. But best of all, the boat will handle the same turning left or right compared to having the tow rope tied off to just one transom eye.
You don't have to use one, but it makes towing toys easy and safe. Can also be used to tow other boats in a pinch.

I just use the stren cleats. Make sure they are tight and have a good backing on the inside. I have had no problems attaching to them to pull a two person tube.
