This engine is 1999 and is a little used kicker in salt water. I have owned the engine from new and it is only run before each trip to warm it up in case my main engine breaks down.

When running now it gives a metallic sounding chirp. This only happens once every couple of seconds at idle and seems to go away as the motor revs. When back it idle it starts again. It's quite irregular also.

I have increased the premix from 100:1 to 50:1 to add some more oil in.

Any ideas what this might be and what is required to fix it?
