Hey guys,
My 2000 Yamaha 225 SS has developed a slight whistle at low RPMs, the best way I can desribe it is to say it sounds like wind slipping in through a slightly open window or a vaccuum leak.
The engine only does it in foward gear at or near 1100 rpms with boat only going staight forward, once I get up above 1200 rpms it goes away.
The motor does not make that noise if I turn the boat sharp either way, or in reverse or at idle or at high rpms.
The engine has a new water pump and new prop and the LU oil has be replaced.
The engine shows no change in performance!
Ideas??
