Unhappy Mariner 45 loose ignition when warm

Can anyone help with this problem. I was having probles with my Mariner 45 ignition cutting off after starting and stopping it over an hour or two. It felt as though the stator was getting too warm. I replaced the stator late last year with a open winding stator ( for better heat disipation ), I also replace the voltage rectifier. It has been great up to last weekend. I ran it for twenty minutes, it restarted as usual another twenty munutes of run time, it conked out. When I attempted to start it it popped once or twice and failed to start again. It had gas. I didnt work on it then but two days later i checked for spark, it looked good, then started right up. does anyone know of electrical issues with this HP motor?

Mercury has a history of bad stators, almost everyone uses CDI replacements

That is what I used to replace the stator, a new CDI unit.

You need to test the system while it's hot and acting up, it may be a problem that a OHM meter won't show and may have to be tested with a DVA
