Control Problem Can't throttle up

Please bear with me as I am a first time boat Owner

This boat was purchased last year in the fall I took it out one time and everything worked great

I took it out yesterday and it worked fine all the way to the fishing hole...

I started it up to head back to the dock and couldn't get it up past an idle..IIt acted just like the throttle cable was stuck I even opened the engine cover to try and accelerate by hand ....

So needless to say it was a slow ride back

It is a 1985 Ebbtide

Merccruiser 190 HP MCM190

Serial Number A328407
Transom assembly number A322775
Drive Unit A316683

The controls are Morse Incom


Any suggestions as to where to start looking

When you move the throttle lever, does the carb linkage and throttle plates move?
You can check this without the engine running.

For those that can't tell by SN, it's a 3.7L (470 style) with a quadrajet 4bbl carb.

Then you either have a broken cable or broken control. Check where the cable attaches inside the control box.

I found the problem The throttle cable was laying against the Manifold ... The engine must have gotten hot low coolant I should have checked that before launching DUH and melted the plastic housing to the cable.. Time to get a new cable ....

Ayuh,...........

You stumbled onto Mercruiser's Worst Nightmare........

You otta get it running nice, detail out the boat,....
And,.....
Sell It,...... Hopefully for a Profit......

Then take your money,+ Buy a Chevy powered boat,......
Mercruiser or Volvo...... It don't matter.....

The Infamous 470s are Almost as much of a Problem as the lovely OMC Stringer Drives........
The 470s have been Out of Production for Years,+ Years..... Merc only built them for a Very Short time,.....
And,.....
It Will Bite you if you keep it too long........
