I have just purchased a 1996 Horizon 200 and the depth gauge does not seem to work properly, as I cruise the depth may register at 200, 400, 24.2 or something in between. It does not seem to be any more accurate when I am not moving either. Can anyone offer me a method to which I could use to troubleshoot this problem?

Thanks!!

Oh yea, I thought it might be important to mention that the gauge I have is built into the dashboard assembly.

I have the same problem on my '96. I believe the gauge cannot be replaced because the manufacturer changed the transducer frequency so the whole unit with the tru hull would have to be changed. I plan to add a second inside the hull finder unit this year. Best to leave the old unit where it is IMHO.

Also- by "guage" I mean the black box cpu under the dash, not the lcd readout in the inst cluster.
