The switchbox on my 1986 8hp Mercury outboard has 2 black w/yellow tracer wires coming into it. One comes from the kill switch the other I'm not sure. Does it matter which of the black/yellow switchbox wires the kill switch wire is plugged into, and if it does how do I know which is the right wire? Are these identical switchbox wires commoned in the switchbox?

Yes the wires go to the same terminal or plug in, which ever the box you have is.

first I have spark then I don't. just wanted to make sure I hadn't reversed the black/yellow wires but I guess you can't. any idea what would make spark come and go intermittently?
