just bought motor, was sitting for 5 years. took out yesterday and was running fine then evertime we opened the throttle to full it seemed to jump out of gear. when we went back down to lower speed the prop was fine. then when we gave it gas again to full speed it poped out of gear again.
Never have owned a small mercury.
Check to see if there is a rubber hub (bushing) in the prop, if not, maybe a shear pin. Try turning the prop by hand with the motor off of course and in gear. That might give you a clue as to whether it is in the prop or gear box.
