Loctite aviation gasket sealer.The kind with the brush in the lid of the can.
Permatex makes a similar version but not sure what its called.

Thanks Gary, I was at the boat store today and the had a Merc sealant they said was the same. Just trying to buy stuff that is not from the "boat" store,if it says Boat it's two to three times as much! I'm learning. Dave

Hey bigdaveaz,

Another option(what I did) was hit up a website like crowleymarine.com or ishopmarine.com, search for the OMC / Bombadier / Evinrude / Johnson part number of 508235, then order it. Took them about a week to get it to me.

I shopped around for 3rd party aftermarket parts for my annual maintenance for a long time.. until I finally realized all I needed to do was find all my OMC part numbers on a parts diagram or parts catalog (on the same website) and place a big order for OEM parts. So I ended up getting official OMC stuff (or as close as I could get.) I don't think you can get OEM parts on iboats.com, but I could be wrong.

Loctite aviation gasket sealer that Gary H spoke of is what I use on my OMC Cobra.You can get it at Napa stores right off the shelf.
