I just replaced my impeller and all day the temp was between 140-160 ( I have thru hulls). However, I have two oil pressure gauges one on the dash and a back up on the engine. The one on the dash read about 20-25lbs all day the one on the engine read about 20 at idle and around 35 under way. Is 35lbs normal and good? If the on dash is right would the 25maybe 27lbs be ok? And finally if it was low wouldn't the engine be running hot?

You talk about an impeller and then state you have two oil pressure guages. The impeller pumps water to cool your engine and the oil pressure guages measure the oil pressure while it is being pumped by the oil pump throughout your engine. You're talking about two entirely different systems.

35 # is OK....;)
It would have to be very low pressure or very low on oil to create a mechanical overheat as long as your cooling system is functioning properly.....
IE, the temp gauge might say 160, but your pistons are melting....
Won't happen with 35 or 27 psi......;)

Lack of oil will cause it to start a knockin an rattlin b4 you would see any signifigant rise in water temp.

Sounds like you must have a chebby in that tub. 20-35 is pretty normal. My Ferd runs between 40-70#'s
