Boat pulls to the right and steering wheel is upside down.

When I bought my Procraft the seller told me it had recently received newly installed steering cables. When I got it home and in the water I realized that it pulls strongly to the right and the steering wheel is upside down.

What is the deal with this and how do I correct it?

Boat pulling to the right when running at higher speeds usually means you need to adjust the trim tab on the back of the cavitation plate. If it pulling hard one way first just look at it. They will usually have a mark that kind of indicates a starting point. Different props and motor height can have an effect. If you find the trim tab pushed far to one side or the other note it's postion and that it pull to the right at that point then Center. Take another run and see if it better or worse and note that. Now you will be able to figure out which way to go.

The steering wheel unside down. First I would turn from stop to stop and see if it is pretty close to being centered when going straight. If it is Just take the wheel off and reinstall right side up. Can not always get it perfect with out making some steering adjustments.

you cannot just take the wheel off and turn it to where you want it. it has a key way that has to line up. to correct this depends on the helm you have, rotary or rack. if the wheel pulls to the right move the back of the trim tab, to the right, may take a couple of tries, but it will get there.

I just switched wheels on between two boats.
They both had the tappered shaft with one halfmoon key. Each wheel had three key slots in the hub so that you had three choices to get it closer to where you want it to be.

Gott confess I haven't seen a wheel like that. The usual cure is to "re-time" the cable with the rack or rotary gear. Some disassembly required, depending on what you have.

i agree with F_R. you have to take the cable out of the helm. and reload it. to get the wheel straight. most wheels only have one key slot.

My son's 1995 Ebbtide 192SE has a three-position wheel. Very helpful!
