I have a 88 merc i/o started for first time this year noticed water leak around bell housing right at starter. this is a major leak. Are there freeze out plugs in bell housing that should be checked or do i need a new engine?
Sounds like someone may not have winterized properly.....
Yes, you will need to remove the engine, bell housing & flywheel.....
Hopefully it is just a core plug....
