Evinrude wiring.

Gentlemen: I had to return my manual to the library before I finished reassembling and that library is 50 miles away.

Evinrude 115 V4 60 deg. looper, 1996. In the front under the air silencer are a green and a black wire with bullet connectors. Black wire is female and green wire is male. I have no other free wires (all other wires are color coded and connected like color to like color) but I have qualms about connecting such dissimilar colors. Do they indeed connect to each other and what circuit are they? Thanks in advance. Frank.

I have same engine, geting ready for spring trial, have air silencer off so I just checked and the green and black wire DO connect as you describe. They then go to seperate bundles and I do not know what circuit they are. Sorry I can not be of more positive help.

Re: Evinrude wiring.

Thanks! After I posted, I went bact to the digital photos I took while disassembling and there it was in black and white--or in this case black and green. I must have specifically taken that one because I knew I would question it later.

But Now---The owner gave me new plugs to install ---NGK BR7HS. They look a lot cooler than the Champion QL78YC that were in it.
1. Are they equivalent?
2. If they are not equivalent, which one is correct? Reason for repair was detonation damage which COULD have been precipitated by too hot plugs.

Very interested in any replyes to your query on plugs. I have same engine and a idle ,or slow speed tick, like wrist pin going bad. Could this be detonation related , caused by hot plugs?
