My motor has only been used about 12x since purchasing new in 2001. I have continually had a problem in that it starts fine after sitting for months, idols ok and runs good but when turned off for anytime after running for 45min to 1 hour...it will not restart. I have had to be towed 3x under same conditions...started, ran for 1 hour, shut down - won't restart. Any ideas? Have changed the plugs and cleaned the carburetor. Many thanks.

First thing that I would check, when a motor does not start, is whether there is a good spark. If there is no spark, then you need to do some troubleshooting with a multi-meter and DVA meter to figure out why no spark. If you have a strong spark when the motor won't start, then I would check the fuel delivery system for problems. The below two links may be of help to you.

Thanks so much, I will read up on all this and work through. I appreciate the advice. Will advise if this helps.
