Charging batteries through Trolling plug??

I have a buddy that always charged his trolling batteries through the trolling motor plug. He purchased a replacement plug. Added two pig tales from it. At night he would un-plug the trolling motor and plug in the charging plug with the pig-tales. Connect the charger to the pig-tales and away he went every-morning. Does this really work??

That will work. The 2 wires in the TM plug go to the same places as you would connect the charger. But if you have a 24V TM, you would need a 24V charger.

Worked good for me, Barkley.

I went a step further, though. I connected the plug directly to my deep cycle charger for better connections. Much more convenient than opening the battery box and clamping on to the poles.
