That serial number puts it at a 1959. That would be the infamous "Fat-50". A great motor, a real work horse, and the world's second most notorious gas hog. Seconded only by the 1958 Fat 50. We could stand it in 1959, but with gas at $4 a gallon you won't be using it much. It'll cost you 35-40 dollars an hour to run it.

Re: johnson super sea horse 50

it's 24:1 tc-w3 oil for the mix.

the carb set up is listed here on the site in past threads, just search for it.

and I believe that at WOT it will use around 5 gallons/hour thus at $4 a gallon around $20 an hour...

also search on other fat 50 info. The unique distributor and other stuff on it will be there.

The high speed mixture needles are toward the center of the carb, under the little cover and operated together by the large pointer knob. You can turn them independently by lifting the knob and turning it so it points at you. The two smaller knobs are the slow speed mixture needles.

Points are under the blet driven pulley at the rear. Make sure you know how to time the belt before removing it. Points are set at .020" at their widest gap. Plugs are J4C. set at .030

If you have one that will run at 4GPH ar WOT, you have a rare one. 8+ is more normal
