I have recently purchased a sport jet 90 mercury sea ray. The current stator is a 398-9873a24 and the voltage regulator looks to be a 15 amp regulator. Mercury put out a service bulletin No 95-20 some time ago stating that all boats with this stator should replace it with a red stator (398-9873A32) which is 15 amps and not 9 amps system.

My concern is that the boat does not have spark and I am pretty sure it is the stator but I am not able to find an equivilant match. Can anyone tell me if the red stator's with numbers starting with 8 such as 832075A21 will work?

Re: Red Stator

The red stators are a nightmare. 1st.. do you have cdm modules for each cylinder or a power pack with adapter. If cdm modules use the 398-832075a25. If power pack & adapter use 398-9710a15 stator and ditch adapter.
