The Eninrude 70hp I have needs some electrical work. It ran great last year but didn't charge. The coils on the stater are weeping, two of the three ignition coils are cracked and I see no reason not to replace the rectifier while I am at it. Model number off the engine is 70473m. I'd hate to order incorrect parts online so these are what I am looking at. Am I missing anything? Look like the right parts?

Re: Replacing Coils ,stator, rectifier.

you parts selection looks fine, thought about impeller, tstat and poppet, as insurance, since you are making this investment into the motor.

not wanting to take a sale from iboats, but i highly recommend the Evinrude Original Service Manual, when working with this up grade. it's more money, but worth it. you can get it from outboardbooks.com, or there are sites on ebay that sell them, DO NOT GET A CD. get the book

Was planning on an impeller to as it probably has the original in it. Had not thought of the t-stat. What's the poppet for? Thanks

Re: Replacing Coils ,stator, rectifier.

Your pressure and temp controlled cooling system consists of the poppet valves, springs, and the t stats. The circulation of water through the cooling system by the impeller/water pump is controlled by the balanced action between the poppet valves, water pump pressure and the t stats. When your power head and cooling system temps reach about 145* F, the t stats open, allowing heated water to pass through the water discharge. As your engine speed is increased, water pump pressure opens the poppet valves. This bypasses the t stats, allowing the engine to run cooler at higher speeds.
