I have a 140 evinrude model # 140743s and wanted to know if my jet drive off my 93 johnson 115 will work. I think the clutch dogs are out of the lower unit. when cold will not engage, but if run for awhile will work ok. Have replaced the cables and adjusted them.

The 1977 140 has the late style bolt pattern. It should bolt up.

But is the upper shaft splines the same.
