Install Fuel Water Seperator on Optimax 150

Anyone install a fuel water seperator to their Optimax 150? The dealer told me that the motor already has a fuel water seperator and said i shouldn't. What's your take? Would it be bad to have 2 F/W seperator? If you have installed it on your motor any problems?

I would think not to put one in...you already have one, but if you think you need to, check with Merc. and do what they recommend. I have a racor in mine but it's not a Opti, just a reg. 2 stroke 2004 model. the engine does not come with one.

I have a 2005, 200hp EFI and they told me NOT to put one on .

The Opti has a water separating filter. There is no need for a redundant filter...

I was told that doing any type of modification on the fuel system of an OPTIMAX may void the garantie.

The modification ( filters , lenght of hose ... ) will cause a fuel restriction that will create a faulty information within the outboard computer program.

the computer will reduce the amount of oil to be sent to the enigine and a risk of seizure may occured.

If you intent to make change on the system you should contact a Mercury technician.
