Re: 1966 6hp johnson

Welcome to iboats!

Easiest way to check fuel pump, remove it's 2 mounting screws, seperate from powerhead, pump primer bulb. If fuel runs out back side of pump, it points to a hole in the pump diaphram. Replace or re-build pump. I'm not sure if your pump is driven from the top cylinder....
I doubt you have a problem with the reeds. Both cylinders are fed from one carb.
I would drop lower unit and run a pressure test on it (8-12 psi). Put lower unit in a bucket of water, you'll see in a flash where the leak is. No that drive seal isn't hard to replace.
BTW, are you sure it's fuel in the top cylinder? Could you have a blown head gasket? Compression test will tell.

The fuel pump operates on the pressure/vacuum cycle in the crankcase for one cylinder. The vacuum cycle can pull fuel into the crankcase through the broken fuel pump diaphram.
