Merc 9.9 2stroke 2003 How to charge battery

Hi everyone,

A buddy of mine has a Merc 9.9 that I want to use to charge a 2-nd battery on the boat when the main motor is not running. Is it possible? Do I need to buy some charging system?

If it came electric start it should have a small charge winding but to expect it to charge a 2nd batt would be alot. I think it's about a 3 amp system
