Default '84 capri cuddy 16', seats!

Hi Everyone, I've only used the motor section of the forum so I'm new to asking questions about my boat. I have the seats that fold down to make a bed. The screws have loosened & in some cases have pulled out where the top & bottom connect. My Question: How do I take the seats out of the Box Frame so I can reset, & redrill? I see where the slide bars travel along the groove just inside the box but cannot take them out w/out bending or breaking the seat or the frame. Thanks for any help or suggestions - dave

hi dave,

you have whats called back-to-back seating. slide open the seats slightly and form an opening so you can see and reach up into the back sides. you'll be able to get a phillips easily in there and unscrew the piano hinge on one side. try the aft side. once all screws on one side are out, just twist the lower seat enough to clear the channel rails from the base. the seat will lift right out. i replaced all my screws with 1 1/4 ss and now much more solid and true. this will also be a good test to see how good your ply is. i had to really apply some strength to get those last few turns. you dont have to remove the seat to replace the screws but gives you more ease to at least look at the condition.

good-luck
