Mercury 4.5 hp need help putting on lower unit

Hi i have a 88 mercury 4.5 hp i just changed my water pump and i'm having a hell of a time putting it back on(not lining it up with the shaft,etc) any pointers??? thanks Erik

If you left it in nuetral, you will have to turn the flywheel to line up the splines, also check the water tube alignment.
