This is the first season that I have used this engine. It is a 1975 evinrude 40 hp model 40555c. I have finally seemed to work all the quirks out of it I have been posting about before. My only concern is this model does not have a "pee hole" . Is this a issue or am I concerned for no reason. Thanks for all your past and current advice.
If you are too lazy to look around to the rear to see if it's pumping, then its a concern for you. Unless you plan to look back there and check the pee hole every two seconds, it really doesn't matter does it? Make sure you have a good water pump and don't worry about it.

I have the same motor and mine has a pee hole (water outlet and exhaust relief). It doesn't have a thermostat however.
