I have a 1978 6HP Belgium made Evinrude with two ignition coils. Whilst cleaning the plugs, one of the leads came loose from the top of its coil. I stared at it bleakly and pushed it back into its hole again. It works OK, but is that enough?

In order to fix it properly, I believe you should have stared at it meekly. Other than that, your procedure was flawlessly executed.
