How do I find information on my Johnson?

Hello all,

Where can I go to find out what years my motor is?

I know that it is:

Johnson
115 Horsepower
Model # 115ETL77S
Serial # J4802704

Would some guide me in the right direction?

It has been sitting for 12 years and I would like to try to get it back on the water.

Take your model # and follow along:
115 = 115hp
E = electric
T= trim
L= 20" shaft
77 = year
S= model run
This only works on 1980 and later engines

So this engine is for 1977? Wow I did not know it was that old. Hope I can find parts but, a Service Manual is next on my list.

Incorrect. That system was only used in the 70s. In 1980 they started using the "INTRODUCES" code for year models.
