Volvo Z290 SP --> SX Adaptorplate?

Hi guys,

a friend of mine gets a new SX drive. The problem: the SX-transom does not fit into the boat transom, because the hole is too big (Volvo 290 before). Now he needs a kind of plate, that would be the easiest way. How do you call that one?
Can you give me some prices or adresses in the US to buy one?
Eventually someone of this board can help.
It would give me great pleasure.

Approximatly what year SX drive?

volvo makes the plate, however over the years there has been 2 designs of the SX plate.
it requires minor transom trimming and redrilling. the adaptor plate comes with instructions and a template for cutting and drilling.
dont forget to coat the bare wood with epoxy or it rots rather quickly.
and dont forget to install the gimbal bearing grease fitting that comes in the kit or you cant grease the gimbal.

Yes, they do make one, but not to be used with a big block 7.4 or 8.1 engine.
The Volvo PN is 3851718 and costs about $750 US$

Thank you, I've heard of that you have mentioned in the last sentence. We have that already.
We are looking primary for a second-hand plate, but if we get a good price in the US (because of customs duty and shipping) we would buy also a new one.

No, we have just that plate inkl. bolts. I think the bolts fit exactly into the holes at the transom.
