I have a 79 model Johnson Seahorse that is fouling one plug...and I mean a juicy foul; fuel running out, etc.

My question is: is it the coil or something else? What should I be looking for?

This boat was my Dad's as I was growing up...and I recently "aquired" a part of my teenage years. I really want this thing running like a top.

Can someone help me out???

You need to do a compression test. Tester should be the screw- in type.

Warm the engine, take all of the plugs out, and check one hole at a time, being as consistent as you can in the method. Record the results for later and to post here. You only need to crank a couple of seconds for each hole.

Aye. I'll do the compression check this week and post back. Thanks for your help.

Which cylinder is fouling? If it is on 2 or 4 could be a fuel pump diaphram leaking.
