1990 48hp Johnson...Dirty Carbs

got dirty carbs on my 1990 48hp johnson. I got both carbs removed from engine and am gonna clean them. Will i need to buy a rebuild kit for each carb or will i most likely need just a few gaskets? each rebuild kit is listed around $25 or so.

what does carb rebuild kit contain? any other things i need to buy or look for on my engine before i buy kit or gaskets? Iboats marine store doesn't have a rebuild kit for my engine listed.

Most kits do not include the floats but they do include all the gaskets and an inlet needle and seat. Unless the floats are damaged there is no need to replace them. You need one kit for each carb and the kits generally cover more than one carb type so don't be surprised if you find some extra parts. Do not disassemble both carbs at the same time. Keep one together so you have the other to refer to if you loose track of what you are doing.
