quick question guys......I am about to go to walmart and buy a primer bulb. My question is, do i need to look for a specific type or are they all the same???????

Where you live? I have an extra primer bulb and the hose, also the attachment for an OMC gas tank if you are around Caryville, TN

Not the same. Get dealer recommended. Some are made of cheap material and the valves in them crap out more often .

As stated, they are definately NOT the same. Fork out the extra couple bucks for the OEM bulb, you will thank us later.

Walmart buys like the US governement. Doesn't matter where it was made.
Only lowest bidder.
Lowest bidder = lower manufacturing costs
Lower manufacturing costs = lower cost raw materials.

Get the point.

By the way I have gone through 3 walmart bulbs in two years.
When they go out is at the worst time.

Got one from the boat shop. The one I have now is Two years and only cost 7 more bucks.

Walmart also sells a couple of different bulb types with different size nipples on the bulbs. This can be a real pain if the hose in your boat is too small for the nipple fittings on the bulb!

The Walmart bulb will work you may even find a complete hose with the right ends but the one from your dealer will last much longer. I have used them in a pinch but they seem to only last a season or two, where as the OEM version will last for years. Since the new methanol concerns in the fuel this problem has gotten worse.
