Default disillusioned with yamaha dealer

Really perplexed and have to talk to someone. Motor is a 05, F115. Has all of 127 hrs and just went out of warranty, not that it really matters. Started out long ago with an occasional high speed miss that cleared up after 10 mins. of operation. Progressed to a constant low speed or high stumbling to the point of shaking the transom at idle in neutral. Could not ignore it no longer so I found a trailer, repaired it, put the boat on it and took it to the dealer.
Go to the dealer and tell the service mgr. the problem. First off I am told a 100 hr. inspection at 650 t0 700 $s will probably fix it. Got real pushy on selling me stuff when the only thing I see on the inspection that could be at fault is the fuel pressure. Not a weathy man so I told them to find out what the problem was and if it was the zinks, water pump, or lower unit lube, by all means do that. Got a call today from the mechanic telling me the plugs and rings were carboned up, suggesting it be decarboned and use YAMAHA ringfree with new plugs also a new thermostat. Went to my mtc. manual and YAMAHA says the engine will use 10 gals. per hour at WOT. I fuel the boat and dont think I have added more than 150 gals. since new. Yamahas figures say 1270 gals possible in total usage at WOT. Boat is way over powered and never goes over 4200 rpm. What the hell am I missing? Where did the carbon come from? I flush the thing like a religion, never had any water in my clear filter/seperator unit.
Stuck enrichment/ choke valve, cold running? wouldnt I have noticed that with the way this baby sips gas? Kind of got the feeling I was at JUFFY LUBE where they want to sell you the store while they have your car on the lift. Anybody ever run into this situation? Thanks for listening to my rambling, comments welcome. FRED

I loaned you the class manual, I tried to tell you.
your not fighting a carbon issue
decarbing can be done in the driveway, its not hard at all and really doesnt require anything to be removed.
other than the intake vacum test plugs.
but if your going to do your own maint there are some diagnostic tools that are MANDATORY, without them you cannot do anything.
luckily the yamaha electronics are mostly bullet proof, however I see more ECU failures on the F115 than all other yamahas combined, dunno why we just do.

Sure appreciate your response. Things have been coming at me real heavy lately with company going to show up real soon. No bar tender to help me sort things out so the next best thing is to vent on iboats.
Remember the old AAMCO ad ? " gosh boss let me try, I never fixed a transmission before" . Sort of got the same feeling when I dropped the boat off. Real lack of confidence although I might be pre judgeing and should give them a chance. Got concerned when I was told the thing carboned up after 127 hrs. I am certain you are correct that I have another problem, time will tell. Should have gone to AAMCO, er RODBOLT, but WANCHESE is 950 mi. away.
Friend has been trying to return your service manual but cant catch you. Any chance you have been flaged at the BLUE CRAB? Been reading the book and am stuck on the pages about synchronous and asynchronus injection. Am going to have to sit down with a box of colored pencils to figure that stuff out. One question, the diagnosis test light, want to make one. Is that a neon bulb or a regular 12 volt bulb? Am concerned on putting to much of a load on the electric brain. thanks FRED

its 12V.
in fact the mercury F115 manual shows a diagram of how to make the test lamp. if I make it by my storage building this weekend Ill try to dig it out.
but watch for the post on a bone head customer from Va Beach with an F50. the bonehead called Yamaha on me.
when I cool down I will post about it.
talk about venting

Hey Fred....we're at the top of Charlotte Harbor from ya'.... we are a Yammie 5 star dealer and we are on the water if ya' need us...also,with what Rodbolt said about the 115 ECU's - check your battery for wingnuts-wingnuts can vibrate loose sending voltage pulses thru the ECU...ECU's run on microvolts and like a steady flow...pulses can wipe them out...change any wingnuts to lock nuts and starwashers

ZZZZZ where are you located at? Company will not show up do to a DIF so the pressure is off. Boat has been suntaining for a week now, time to see whats going on, latch on to it and bring it home. Tow vehicle is an old 4 cyl ford ranger that I had to keep in 3 rd. gear at 40 mph to make the 5 mi. tow. Not a big boat, truck was never ment for towing.
Will have to do more repairs plus tires on the trailer and borrow a real tow vehicle before I am safe to travel up BURNT STORE RD.
RODBOLT, last time at the shop you showed me a retro fit ( on older models) for extra filtration. Was like a black hose in a plastice bag, hard to tell just what it was, about $ 400, said it was cleanable. Believe it went between the VS and the fuel rail. Do you have a service bulletin nbr. on that?
Friend is still trying to return your papers on the F115. Also, cant wait to hear how you got in trouble with YAMAHA. One other thing this morning, you said YAMAHA directed that injectors be sent to FLAGSHIP in FL. for cleaning. Is that the engine builder in PUNTA GORDA? regards FRED

Fred
google : flagship marine injector cleaning.
that will get ya where ya need to be.
however there are other shops that will give computer print outs of before and after cleaning flow rates at 9ms and 50 ms.
if that doesnt work, pay the airfare and Ill take a vacation.

Hey guys, thanks for staying in touch! Picked the boat up this morning. It was sun tanning awaiting a sea trial. Paid the freight and brought it home. Put it on the muffes and my old ford ranger sound better but the jury is still out until I do the impellor and gear box and drop it back in the water. Guys did not know what a test wheel was.
RODBOLT, be careful what you suggest, retired but can still get you down here on DELTA for nothing. NORFOLK via ATL to ft. myers. Something to kick around, you would enjoy the bars and pool tables here on the island. Ever been to a nude beach? Have not flown since I cant get cockpit jump seat authority anymore. Things have really changed.
ZZZZ- let me get things squared away and will probably be in touch. regards FRED
