Recently purchased 1986 18' procraft and I am looking to install a new bowmount trolling motor. The boat previously had one, but has been removed, including all wiring and breakers. There is still a switch up front. What is needed to install a 24 volt trolling motor. Thanks for any help.

your motor should come with a wiring diagram. 2 deep cell batteries.

You don't need to use the switch up front. You do need two 12V deep cycle batteries wired in series. Plug in the troller and go. You should also buy an on-board 2-bank charger. Your motor will not keep those batteries charged. The wiring is shown below.

On my 1990 ProCraft, I had same thing, I ended up leaving the OEM plug in its place and installed a new one that I got at Wally World, and it came with a diagram for the various voltages, 12, 24, 36 so that the prongs work right for your TM brand, might want to check out your manufacturers website if you don't have a wiring diagram for it already. Mine was a 24 volt Minnkota 55# thrust and pushes our boat very well.
