Default mercury 225 compression

I am looking at purchaseing a 1996 mercury 225 and am wondering if any one knows what the acceptable compression range should be for this motor. I have looked at motors with compression from 110 up to a stated 125 in all cylinders. Any help would be great.

Welcome to the forum!!
You're in the right ball park for compression but more important is the relationship between all cylinders. They should all be close to the same compression. I believe a good number is within 5-10% closer to 5%.
If one cylinder has 105 and all of the rest have 125, then something is wrong.
