Default Mercury lower unit

Where can I find some info on a lower unit. The numbers stamped on the side read 38535, anybody know anything about these units? Thanks

I don't know what those number are but we need the numbers that are cast on the inside of the casting above the trim tab area they should be a 8 digits number seperated by a - or the serial number of the motor.

Well a friend just told me its a speed-master, can anybody give me some info on these or where to find some info? He also told me that these do not shift is this true? I just picked up this motor last week and I have no Idea about outboards. Any help would be much appreciated, thanks

Can somebody tell me how to drain the oil out of this unit, it has a fill hole and a vent hole but nothing else.

What is it? most high speed units have to be taken off with each use and the tailcone greased and the unit flushed and refilled.

Its a speedmaster...I really don't care for the darn thing...How much could I get for it on e-bay?I want to replace with original lower!

OK......just found out its cracked!!!!!!!!!!!!! The case is cracked about 3 inches long! Now how much is it worth?! Can I have it tig welded?

That would depend on where the crack is, in most cases they were not repairable but depending on the engine it's on it may have some value as a display model. PM me with what it is and I will try to find out what it's worth. We are not to talk about selling stuff on the forum so thats why I say to PM me
