Default Replacing prop shaft seal on '97 250 Mariner

I had the boat out yesterday for the first time this season. After getting back in the boat was hauled and put on a rack so I could put fresh bottom paint on today. When I walked up to the boat today there was a small oil trail running down the skeg. It appears to be coming from the just below the prop. I'm guessing the prop shaft seal is bad.

How do I go about changing the O-ring? Does the lower unit need to be dropped or can I get to it after simply removing the prop?

You can remove the prop ,drain the unit and pull the carrier and change the seal and o ring. If this is a salt water engine the carrier might be difficult to remove. Go here to ck on the parts breakdown for the unit
