Unless you are an expert in wood construction (and even if you are) you gotta get a survey!! Wood boats hide their defects, while a fiberglass boat advertises them. Brazil has most of the world's supply of hardwoods, for now, so there could be a some good stuff in there. Then again, unless you are into wood, most folks can't tell chundoo from mahogany. One is great for planking, one is good for shims and has the strength of a wet noodle.
